Сегодня треть сотрудников столичного метрополитена — женщины. Они работают на разных должностях, а с 2020 года, благодаря поддержке Мэра Москвы и Министерства труда и социальной защиты РФ, женщины снова стали машинистами. Сейчас в метрополитене работают уже более 100 женщин-машинисток и их помощниц, а еще около 50 обучаются этой профессии в корпоративном университете Московского транспорта. 10 TV Villains Who Should Be an Evil Witch in 'Wicked'
Many TV villains could easily be one of the Wicked Witches from Frank L. Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz universe. They are self-involved and often corrupt, using magic to get their way and defeat their enemies. In Baum's novel, the most famous witch is the Wicked Witch of the West, and the one who tries to get Dorothy out of the Land of Oz. The story also has other Wicked Witches from other sides of the world—East, North, and South. When Gregory Maguire wrote Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West in 1995, he reimagined the world of the green-skinned witch, naming her Elphaba. Her story was revised to be a more sympathetic character, so some TV villains that people could relate to or cheer for are also great material for being witches in Wicked. These characters are known for their corrupt nature and some redeemable qualities, but could easily find themselves as evil witches in the world of Wicked. Despite getting attention as the main character later on, Agatha is first introduced to viewers as a malevolent presence in Wanda Maximoff's life. In that way, she's very much like Elphaba, who was first mostly known as the Wicked Witch of the West, but now has a name and a story dedicated to her in Wicked. Agatha is a powerful sorceress with the ability to manipulate and deceive, and she can reach into different dimensions and control objects from those parts, too. In Wandavision, Wanda Maximoff deals with the grief of losing her lover, Vision, by creating a false world that often plays out like a sitcom from the 1950s. As Wanda's life in the illusion progresses, one of the people captured in it is Agatha, as Wanda's friend Agnes, played brilliantly by Kathryn Hahn. As deceptive as Agatha is in WandaVision, she's portrayed as a more inquisitive witch in Agatha All Along. Played by Joan Collins, Alexis marks a formidable entry into the world of the Carrington family and the Dynasty universe through an episode dedicated to her. She makes herself their biggest nightmare by getting under each of their skins, especially Krystle (Linda Evans), who is the quintessential 'good girl.' One might imagine Alexis and Krystle as the Wicked Witch of the West and the Good Witch of the North from the original Oz storyline. Joan Collins listed several real-life inspirations for creating the devious, treacherous, and ruthless character of Alexis, but one of the most notable is Donald Trump. She mentioned how people in business tend to be "manipulative and devious and clever." These are the qualities one could imagine within any evil witch in a fictionalized world, especially Wicked. With her in that universe, the stakes would be much higher, though Alexis doesn't have any supernatural powers—only malice. Legion is a comic book adaptation starring Dan Stevens as David Haller, aka Legion. He is a mutant with schizophrenia and the abilities of telekinesis, telepathy, and teleportation. David is confined in a mental institution, where he meets Lenny (Aubrey Plaza); she's at first a scared and confused girl but dies not long after. She's then reincarnated as a manifestation of a villain in David's mind, becoming his worst nightmare. With Lenny becoming a malevolent presence for David, she's able to bend the rules and manipulate him the way she wants. Her powers have an immense effect on David, since she's the manifestation of the Shadow King, a strong evil mutant that preys on other mutants' psyches. While the Shadow King is in Lenny's form, David's most vulnerable because she's in the form of someone he likes but cruel. Lenny would be a powerful and manipulative evil witch in any version of Wicked. Release Date February 8, 2017 Seasons 3 Story By Chris Claremont, Bill Sienkiewicz 7 Kai Winn Adami 'Star Trek: Deep Space Nine' (1993-1999) Image via Paramount Television One of the most prominent TV villains of all time is Winn Adami, who, throughout the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine series, was depicted rising from a Bajoran faith fanatic getting arrested to becoming a Kai, a leader of the Bajoran faith of the highest order. Winn Adami's life seemed arduous at first, with her as a manipulative and highly observant individual. She could see through people, deceive them for personal gain, and talk to the masses so eloquently that anyone would turn to her religion in her presence. Kai Winn Adami was portrayed by Louise Fletcher, who found her to be like a Pope, but as she said, "Like an ancient Pope, from the old days when Popes were ruthless and powerful and exerted their powers and fought wars." These qualities make Winn Adami not just the biggest and best villain on TV - ever - but the ideal material for an evil witch in the Land of Oz. She could even be the Wizard herself if she put her mind to it. She was the definition of an antagonist: an insensitive, proud, selfish, and arrogant character who would opt for self-preservation more often than save someone else. However, in getting to know Katherine (much like Elphaba in Wicked), the banishment from her family and the desire to be popular and accepted had led her to grow cold due to rejection and deceit. In many ways, Katherine is like the Wicked Witch of the West. Nina Dobrev, who plays the protagonist Elena in The Vampire Diaries, also breathes life into Katherine very differently and with complex nuances. It was easy for audiences to differentiate between her as Elena and as Katherine, in part due to differences in their appearance and style, but largely due to Dobrev's portrayal. Katherine is considered one of the biggest antagonists of The Vampire Diaries, which is her ticket into the order of the Wicked Witches. Smith Expand 5 Callisto 'Xena: Warrior Princess' (1995-2001) Image via Syndication The tragic character Callisto from the Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys is somewhat opposite to Elphaba or any evil witch, but her days as an antagonist qualify her to earn the title of a Wicked Witch. Callisto's family is murdered by Xena and her army, so she becomes fueled by hatred and vengeance. She trains becoming like Xena and destroy her while pillaging and destroying small villages in Xena's name so she can recover her reputation as a villain. When Callisto's plan to destroy Xena fails time and time again, she bites an apple from The Tree of Life and becomes immortal. Her journey from a vengeful girl to an angel deserving of redemption is one of the best character arcs on TV, though it may not suit the life of an evil witch. Still, if evil witches could change, they'd probably experience redemption like Callisto, too. Callisto was played by Hudson Leick and remains a memorable TV character. Release Date September 4, 1995 Seasons 6 Story By Sam Raimi Network NBC Expand 4 Glory 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' (1997-2003) Image via 20th Century Fox Glory or Glorificus is a dominant villain in the fifth season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer; she is one of the three rulers of a hell dimension. After being banished from her hell dimension for fear that she'll destroy the other two rulers, Glory manifests in the body of a man called Ben. When in her real form, Glory is violent, arrogant, lacks any self-doubt, and is narcissistic. She abuses her powers and ruler status by bullying her minions, similar to the Wicked Witch of the West, whose biggest power lies in the creatures she controls. Glory is a literal goddess, so she is much more powerful than a regular evil witch, meaning she'd have lots of control and power as an evil force in Oz. In Buffy the Vampire Slayer, she was played by Clare Kramer; funnily enough, one of Glory's nicknames in the series is "Abomination," which is ironic since Clare Kramer is beautiful; nevertheless, she was a great casting choice for a powerful goddess and would make a great evil witch. She'd scare everyone she encounters while maintaining loyalty and praise for those in her service. And though her Voodoo background pits her against witchcraft in Coven, she would be incredibly powerful as an evil witch in the Land of Oz. Or could she be deemed an evil witch but practice dark rituals on her own terms? The truth is, Marie Laveau would most likely do whatever and however she wanted. Played and perfectly embodied by Angela Bassett, Marie Laveau is the nemesis of the Coven leader Fiona Goode (Jessica Lange). Whenever they meet, they exchange strong words and sorcery, but Laveau always proves herself a worthy opponent and an intriguing villain. She also gets redemption with the coven by the end of AHS: Coven, so Marie Laveau may not be the most ruthless villain out there; in fact, she's one of the most beloved AHS characters. Merlin is a mage hailing from British legends about King Arthur, also known as Arthurian legends. In the BBC's highly acclaimed series Merlin, Colin Morgan portrays the wizard from a young age, including his developing friendship with King Arthur and training of his magical powers. Morgana is a witch rejected by her father, King Uther, because of her attitude toward magic; she's often depicted as Merlin's lover and his nemesis in different interpretations, and most often as both. Morgana Pendragon is a powerful woman whose magic grows stronger the more she feels confident in practicing it and being herself; she's confident, manipulative, and uses all means to an end. Since the show is told from Merlin's perspective, Morgana is the main villain from season 4 forward, but as Katie McGrath, who plays her, said, by that time, "You find Morgana embracing her inner, darker, magical side completely." This qualifies Morgana as one of the best candidates for an evil witch (with a hint of good in her) in the Land of Oz. Merlin Release Date September 20, 2008 Seasons 5 Story By Julian Jones Writers Julian Jones Network BBC Expand 1 Melisandre of Asshai 'Game of Thrones' (2011-2019) Image via HBO The Red Priestess, or The Red Woman, Melisandre of Asshai from Game of Thrones is a strong candidate for one of the most liked villains on TV. Not just that, but she could easily fit the bill as a Wicked Witch in Oz, with her powers to manipulate and glamour people, wield fire and shadows, and gain premonition. Melisandre could also be an evil witch that can introduce a dress code, since she's always wearing red and has red hair. Maybe that would differentiate her from the other evil witches of the realm, though Melisandre is very recognizable without it. Carice van Houten, who plays Melisandre, embodied the sorceress perfectly. Her subtle but passionate performance made The Red Woman a highly beloved antagonist, despite having selfish and cruel intentions as a priestess with a disdain for every other faith in the realm of Westeros. She's the closest to a witch that Game of Thrones has to offer and is the one who revived Jon Snow after he was betrayed and killed by the members of The Night's Watch.
